Proudly Leading the Modern Eyewear Movement: Women’s History Month at Liberated Eyewear
There’s a moment that doesn’t make it into the highlight reels.
The room is full. The lights are bright. People are talking about innovation like it’s a trendy accessory—something you put on for the panel, then take off when the event ends.
And then our founder, Crystal Crawford, looks around and realizes she’s carrying something extra that nobody put on the agenda:
Sometimes she’s the only Black woman on stage. Sometimes she’s the only Black woman in the room.

That reality has a weight to it. Not the kind you can measure with a scale—more like pressure you feel in your chest when you know you’re being watched differently. When you know you’ll have to be twice as prepared just to be received as credible. When you know your success will be treated like an exception instead of the standard.
And still—she shows up.
Not because it’s comfortable. Because it’s necessary.

The truth about trailblazing
People love to say “trailblazer” like it’s a cute title. Like it comes with a crown and a confetti cannon.
But the truth is: trailblazing is expensive.
It costs energy. It costs time. It costs the freedom to just exist without representing an entire community. It costs emotional labor—especially in spaces where you can feel the skepticism before anyone even speaks.
And yet, this is how the modern eyewear movement gets built: by women who refuse to shrink.
Crystal didn’t wait for permission to lead. She built a brand that made leadership unavoidable.

National recognition, real receipts
We’ve been featured and spotlighted for the work, the mission, and the movement—because this isn’t just a brand story. It’s a proof-of-concept.
Liberated Eyewear has been featured in Bold Journey Magazine (2024), Vision Monday (2023, 2024), InVision Magazine (2024), and Voyage Magazine (2024), with additional spotlights from Shoutout LA (2023), Meet the Woman Behind the Business Magazine (2024), The Official Black Wall Street (2024), and Shopee Black Magazine (2024).
And yes—Crystal was named:
Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical: Rising Star (2024).
But what matters most isn’t the list.
It’s what the list represents: a shift.
The quiet power of allies
Here’s another truth: nobody builds alone.
Women—especially Black women—don’t just need applause. We need allies who move with action. The kind who open doors, make introductions, amplify the work in rooms we haven’t entered yet, and give credit in real time.
Allyship is not a vibe. It’s a practice.
And we’re grateful for every person who has chosen to support Liberated Eyewear with more than words:
-
Customers who shop and share
-
Partners who collaborate with respect
-
Editors and publications who tell the story with care
-
Communities who champion the mission beyond a moment
If you’re one of those people—thank you. You’re part of this.

Women’s History Month, the Liberated way
Women’s History Month isn’t a marketing theme for us. It’s a mirror. It reflects what we already know:
Women build futures.
Black women build futures—often while being underestimated in real time.
So we’re celebrating the women who keep showing up, who keep creating, who keep choosing excellence even when the room isn’t built for them.
And we’re inviting you to do something simple but powerful:
Support the women building the modern eyewear movement.
Wear the future.
Back the standard.
Because history isn’t just what we honor.
It’s what we continue.
PROUDLY LEADING THE MODERN EYEWEAR MOVEMENT.
